Student Mail Center

The Student Mail Center is located at the Guest Services Desk in Highsmith Student Union between the bookstore and the food court. All residential student mail and packages will be received and picked up at this location. Student mail boxes and package pick up are available any time that Highsmith Student Union is open.

Packages can be sent to 2500 University Heights and held until residents arrive and request a mailbox.

Guest Services Desk

At the Guest Services Desk students can check out a number of items, including:

  • iPads
  • Chalk
  • Crafting supplies
  • Carts

Guest Services Desk also coordinates a campus lost and found.  Students can check to see if a lost item has been returned to the desk, and students can also turn in lost items to be logged. At the Guest Services Desk, on-campus students can pick up their mail and packages.  Students can also send out packages with pre-paid postage. Stamps are sold for .49 cents and envelopes are sold for .10 cents. You can reach the Guest Services Desk assistant at 828.251.6600.

Highsmith Art Gallery

The Highsmith Student Union Art Gallery is a collaboration between Highsmith Student Union and the arts community at the University of North Carolina Asheville. The gallery is located on the second floor of the Highsmith Student Union, within the new extension outside of the Blue Ridge Room. All campus departments and individuals are invited to hold gatherings, meetings, or classes in the gallery while artwork is on display.


  • A learning environment where dialogue about diversity, equity, and inclusion is stimulated by art exhibitions
  • A resource for the campus and community-at-large to intentionally address diversity, equity and inclusion with a high value on student input and engagement
  • An art space that showcases UNC Asheville student art work and senior exhibits
  • An art space that is welcoming and accessible to all

Gallery Coordinator

Stan Sweeney serves as the key contact for all items related to the Gallery, including scheduling, reservations, internships, installations, art front needs, visiting artists, and supervision of the gallery hours, staff, and program advisory committee.


The Art Gallery is open during the Fall and Spring semesters while Highsmith Student Union is open:

Monday through Saturday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sunday: Noon – 6 p.m.
Hours extended for Exhibit Opening Receptions.
